Effective today, Canadian non-investment fund reporting issuers can rely on a new optional access model to satisfy securities law delivery requirements for annual financial statements, interim financial reports and related MD&A by providing electronic access to those documents through SEDAR+.
The amendments are intended to modernize the delivery of continuous disclosure documents and reduce printing and mailing costs, while preserving investors' ability to receive paper or electronic copies on request.
For issuers considering adoption, the new regime is not simply a matter of filing documents on SEDAR+. It includes specific requirements relating to news releases, website posting, annual shareholder reminders and prescribed timelines that must be followed.
