Commercial Momentum Continues for Ksi Lisims LNG

Another indicator of momentum in Canada's LNG sector emerged this week as Ksi Lisims LNG announced a new long-term supply arrangement with Centrica Energy. Under the Heads of Agreement, Centrica would purchase 1 million tonnes of LNG annually over a 20-year period, subject to the execution of a definitive Sale and Purchase Agreement. Following the announcement, Ksi Lisims LNG reported that approximately 9 mtpa of its planned 12 mtpa export capacity is now associated with supply agreements or Heads of Agreement.

What makes this development noteworthy is not simply the size of the commitment, but what it may signal about market confidence in Canadian LNG projects. Long-term customer commitments are often a critical piece of the puzzle for large-scale infrastructure projects, helping proponents demonstrate demand while supporting commercial, financing, and development efforts.

The agreement also reflects ongoing interest from international buyers seeking long-term LNG supply. As energy security and supply reliability remain important considerations in global energy markets, Canadian LNG projects continue to attract attention from customers looking to diversify their supply portfolios.

While the Ksi Lisims LNG has not yet made a final investment decision (FID), its efforts to secure offtake agreements with qualified buyers bodes well for the Project's continued move towards FID.
Centrica and Ksi Lisims LNG LP have entered into a Heads of Agreement (HOA) for the sale and purchase of 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG.
